Eric Lascelles
Chief Economist
RBC Global Asset Management Inc.

The economics team is a part of the broader investment team. We have a very strong technical analysis team looking at momentum and trends and these sorts of things. We care deeply about values of different asset classes.

Eric Savoie
Investment Strategist
RBC Global Asset Management Inc.

The investment strategy team, really looks at the world from a top down perspective. So that's macro economy, macro stock market, interest rates, central banks, bond yields and all that kind of thing. Combining this top-down view with a bottom up approach, creates a, a very well-rounded or holistic view of the world in terms of as it relates to the investment landscape, which we think leads to sound investment decision making.

Eric Lascelles

When we generate research, it's really with two ends in mind, we're trying to help the investment team make good decisions. We're also trying to inform and educate our clients. We publish, video casts and webcasts and weekly economic reports and a wide range of materials, really, with an eye to helping them as well.

Eric Savoie

By communicating, how we're structuring things and how we see the world and how that's affecting our investment decisions and our clients. I can really appreciate that and get a better sense of how we're managing their money.

Eric Lascelles

When I think about the evolution of the economic team over the last decade plus, we've lived through more world events and now we know how a pandemic works, and we have a good sense for how a global financial crisis works. And we've been through a European sovereign debt crisis and any number of other somewhat smaller events. But nevertheless, those all add up and make one better prepared for future shocks and risks and trends.

Eric Savoie

And another key, function of the investment strategy team is working very closely with the RBC Investment Strategy Committee and other various asset allocation committees throughout the firm.

Eric Lascelles

Our initial goal is simply to help the investment teams better understand, anticipate the economy. But really, when it comes down to it, it's helping clients achieve their financial goals.
