The RBC GAM Responsible Investment (RI) Team helps to advance the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors into the investment process by managing, coordinating and conducting ESG research, supporting investment teams with ESG integration, engaging with investee companies on ESG–related issues, researching and analyzing proxy voting issues, managing RBC GAM’s proxy voting activities, collaborating with like-minded investors, and engaging with lawmakers or regulators on ESG-related issues.

ESG integration

  • Conduct ESG research and analysis
  • Work with the investment teams to help them integrate ESG factors into their investment processes
  • Provide education to investment teams on ESG topics
  • Continuously assess latest ESG data, trends and developments
  • Work with technology teams to incorporate ESG data into investment processes and enhance ESG integration processes

Active Stewardship

  • Engage with boards and management of investee companies on ESG factors
  • Communicate and collaborate with like-minded investors through involvement with responsible investment initiatives
  • Advocate for/respond to regulatory initiatives regarding shareholder rights, corporate disclosure and responsible investment
  • Thoughtfully execute proxy voting, in collaboration with investment teams

Client-driven solutions and reporting

  • Produce annual and semi-annual firm-wide ESG reports
  • Provide meaningful client reporting on ESG topics
  • Publish ESG insights and thought pieces on topical and emerging ESG issues
  • Develop client-driven solutions related to ESG factors
