Suromitra Sanatani

Chair

A seasoned independent director, Suromitra Sanatani is Board Chair of Canada Post and a director of Purolator Holdings Ltd. Previously, she served on various boards including Edmonton International Airport, Canadian Blood Services, and as chair of the Royal BC Museum. Ms. Sanatani began her career in litigation before transitioning from the practice of law to senior corporate positions in the non-profit, public and private sectors. She has been a member of the IRC since January 1, 2017.

Brenda Eaton

Vice Chair

Brenda Eaton is a seasoned corporate director, having served for fifteen years on private, public, not-for-profit and crown-corporation Boards. Currently Brenda is Chair of Westland Insurance, and director of LifeLabs; also Canadian Red Cross, Max Bell Foundation and the Killam Trusts. Previously Brenda held executive leadership positions in the BC Public Service, including Deputy Minister to the Premier, of Finance and of Energy. For several years, she was CFO of the Capital Health Region. Brenda has a Master’s Degree in Economics.

Joanne Vézina

Joanne Vézina was a senior executive with a major Canadian investment funds company. A seasoned corporate director, she later served on five different Independent Review Committees, and on the board of several companies in the financial sector, some of which she chaired. Ms. Vézina also contributed to the drafting of the regulation on the distribution of financial services in the Province of Quebec as a board member of the Bureau des services financiers du Québec. She is currently Chair of the Board, Chair of the Human Resources Committee and a member of the Governance and Ethics Committee at Humania Assurance.

Ruth M. Corbin

Ruth M. Corbin is Chair of forensic research firm CorbinPartners Inc. and an accredited mediator specializing in resolution of expert evidence disputes in litigation. She has been a Director of Trimark Financial Corporation, Director and Chair of Audit for Toronto Hydro, and Director and Chair of Corporate Governance for Unihost hotels. Dr. Corbin formerly held executive positions in financial services and telecommunications, and professorship appointments at University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School. She has been named by Rogers Media as one of Canada’s top 100 women entrepreneurs and joined the IRC on January 1, 2020.

Enrique Cuyegkeng

Enrique Cuyegkeng is a member of the board at ACCES Employment and the investment committee at the Institute for Research on Public Policy. A senior investment and pension executive, Enrique headed public markets programmes for Ontario Power Generation (2018-2021) and at OPSEU Pension Trust (2006-2016). He managed portfolios for Canada Post pension (2006-2007) and Sun Life Canada (2003-2005). He built his investment career at TD Asset Management (1992-2003), rising to Managing Director, responsible for institutional portfolios, including CPPIB’s initial investments, retail funds, and ETFs. He holds a CFA, an MBA from Columbia University, and a Management Engineer degree from Ateneo de Manila University.
